Aircraft maker Boeing is launching a new production line at its Salt Lake City plant that will make vertical tail-fin assemblies for its new 787 Dreamliner. The line, which will begin operations with 45 employees, is scheduled to go into production in July. It is expected during the fourth quarter of this year to deliver its first fin assembly to Boeing’s South Carolina operations where the passenger jet will be assembled. Another 120 employees potentially could be hired for the new 35,000 square-foot production line by the end of 2012. The company currently employs 740 Utahns. Salt Lake Tribune
