Jail construction begins in Tooele County

Construction has begun on a new jail in Tooele County. The Tooele Transcript-Bulletin reports that county officials used gold ceremonial shovels to break ground on the site of the new 264-bed facility last week. The 72,000-square-foot Tooele County Detention Center is expected to be completed by the end of the year. The county is financing the construction with $25 million in bonds. Deseret News
