Utahns who for years have been yearning for their own Trader Joe’s neighborhood grocery store won’t have to wait much longer. The first in-state location of the popular Southern California-based chain will open in Salt Lake City Nov. 16.
That means in just five weeks, cult followers of the store’s gourmet products and organic foods will finally will get their hands on Trader Joe’s-branded roasted coconut chips or pumpkin soup without having to cross state lines.
A company spokeswoman would not say how many employees will be hired for the Salt Lake City store or what the salary range will be, but a 2010 story in Fortune magazine stated that full-time crew members can start at $40,000 to $60,000 per year. The company also contributes more than 15 percent of the employee’s gross income to a tax-deferred retirement account, according to the story. Trader Joe’s also provides medical, dental and vision coverage to qualified full-time and part-time employees, according to the company’s website. Salt Lake Tribune
