Final bit of concrete poured for Salt Lake’s airport TRAX line

The new airport TRAX line hit one of its final milestones Monday — its final concrete pour.

Salt Lake City Mayor Ralph Becker and Utah Transit Authority General Manager Michael Allegra were on hand — along with former LDS Church Presiding Bishop H. David Burton, who sits on UTA’s board — to install a plaque to mark the occasion at 900 West on North Temple. Construction is scheduled to wrap up this fall, and the line should open early next year after six months of testing.

The six-mile line will run from Salt Lake City International Airport generally down North Temple to connect with existing lines at the Arena Station, adjacent to EnergySolutions Arena. Current plans call for the airport extension to become part of the green line, which runs to Valley Fair Mall in West Valley City. Salt Lake Tribune
