Deal would bring blended radioactive waste to Utah
EnergySolutions plans to bring more blended radioactive waste to Utah, thanks to a new joint venture with the U.S. arm of a Swedish radioactive-waste processing company. Under an agreement completed with Studsvik in December, EnergySolutions would accept, at its specialized Tooele County landfill, ion-exchange resins from nuclear power plants after Studsvik treats the waste at its Erwin, Tenn., thermal processing plant.
