Utah data center for Twitter may open in early fall

A new computer center in Utah that will run operations for Twitter’s highly popular and explosively growing social network may be opening as soon as September. C7 Data Centers of Lindon, Twitter’s partner in the center being constructed in Bluffdale, said Monday it had raised $9 million in capital to construct a facility and expand three existing ones. Although a C7 representative declined to say the new facility is for Twitter, the timing coincides with Twitter’s announcement last month that it would open computer operations in the Salt Lake City area before the end of the year. “We’re shooting for [opening in] September,” said C7 spokesman Dave Jenkins.

The center is reportedly going into a building once owned by the technology company Linux Networx. Twitter has advertised at least one job for its Utah location, seeking a “site operations technician” based in the Salt Lake City area. The Salt Lake Tribune
