The number of people who bought previously owned homes nationwide last year fell to the lowest level in 13 years. But sales in December jumped to their fastest pace in seven months.
The trend was the same in Utah, where sales were weak for the year, but showed signs of strength in the final month, the Salt Lake Board of Realtors reported. An estimated 806 existing homes and condominiums were sold in Salt Lake County in December, down from 886 in December 2009, but up from 742 in November 2010. In Salt Lake County, an estimated 10,350 existing homes and condominiums sold last year, down 8 percent from 2009. Final numbers will be released next week. Salt Lake Tribune
