Work gets under way on Salt Lake Regional Athletic Complex

Friday marked the beginning of construction on the $22.8 million Phase 1 of the Salt Lake Regional Athletic Complex, due to be completed in fall 2011. The 160-acre field near 1900 W. 2200 North will be home to 15 competition-quality soccer fields, one championship field and more than 600 trees. Plans for the complex have been around for nearly a decade, with voters approving a $15 million bond in 2003 on condition private entities donated an additional $7.5 million. Deseret News
